Serious gbege happun for Phase Two Extension area of Lokoja on Monday morning as one small pikin, two-year-old Godwin Kumfa, drown for Meme River wey dey near hin papa house.

Di sad matter happun around 7:30 a.m. for back of Navy Quarters, and immediately neighbours plus family begin find di pikin with speed.

Godwin papa, Mr. Mamtip Kumfa, wey dey work as security man for one private school, talk say na one neighbour run come tell am say hin pikin don miss.

“As I hear say Godwin no dey, I run come house. Na so I see my wife dey cry, dey find am near river,” Mr. Kumfa talk with pain for hin voice.

According to am, hin wife just waka small go pack sand near di river, leave Godwin for small time. But as she come back, di pikin don vanish.

“She leave am small to carry sand, next thing we see na hin shoe wey dem find downstream for Arigbede—dat place far reach like 15 kilometers,” he cry. “Godwin na my only son o.”

Family friend, Mr. Seun Babalola, wey follow dem find Godwin, confirm say dem see one of di pikin shoe along di river line. He also remember say na di same river carry another boy, Goodluck Friday, wey be 7 years old, two years ago.

“This river don carry pikin before o. Na really bad thing,” Seun talk with heavy heart.

Godwin mama, Mrs. Lovina Kumfa, no fit hold herself. She dey cry dey beg God make dem see her pikin.

“I just leave am for small time, just small! When I come back, I no see my baby again. God abeg, help me find my pikin,” she cry.

Di whole community shock as dem hear wetin happun. Neighbours dey show support and dey try comfort di family.
