A non governmental organization, Doors Youth Empowerment initiative, Wednesday donated some materials to  Pro- Wrestling Afrik Promotions ( PWAP) to enable it organise a successful training in Togo  for fighters in the West African sub-region.

The items includes; branded exercise books, T- shirts and face caps which the organisation said is  part of their contribution towards ensuring a successful programme which is the first of it's kind in West Africa.

Speaking during the presentation which was held at the National Headquarters of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, President of the NGO, Mrs.Efunronke Omolara Koki Esq explained that the donation is one of the ways her organisation support the youths to be successful in their skills noting that the decision of the wrestling body to take the game outside the shores of this nation shows that Nigeria does not only support sports in the country but help it grow in neighbouring countries and as such, they must be encouraged.

According to her, the significance of donating exercise books to the Federation is to show that education and sports goes hand in hand.

" We gave them exercise books because we always encourage sportsmen and women to combine sports with education and since they are going for both theory and practical, they need to write to refresh their memories.

Vice President of the organisation who also doubles as the National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Ambassador Sam Ikpea stated that as somebody who has been in sports business for more than 30 years, he has always  taken interest in youth empowerment through sports and will continue to do so 

" This is not my first time of empowering sports men and women. I have supported Deaf Sports Federation and organised many competitions for them and now that wrestling is coming up again, we have to see how we can take it outside the shores of this country.

"It's equally important that we extend both moral and financial support to them to make their plan of introducing the sports to other West African countries becomes  a success.

Receiving the gifts, Executive Director of Pro- Wrestling Afrik Promotions, Olusesan Olukoya while commending the organisation for the gifts stated that it will go a long way in helping them organise a successful training programme in Togo.

" We're very excited with the gifts because it will be very beneficial to us when we get to Togo. You're aware that right now only four countries namely;  Nigeria, South Africa, DR Congo and Cameroon practice professional wrestling.

" Right now, we've inaugurated the sports in Benin Republic and after Togo, we'll move to Ghana and other West African countries", he assured.

The wrestling body also used the occasion to present certificate of Patron to Rev. Ikpea who while accepting it announced that it will encourage him to do more for the sports just as he's doing for the Nigeria Football Supporters Club.

It would be recalled that Pro- Wrestling Afrik Promotions in conjunction with world renowned Dentist and wrestler, Jim McDowell who is the President of  Florida United States of America based Golden Wrestling Federacy will be organising a professional wrestling training for West African fighters in Togo from March 1-3, 2024 at the Kegue Stadium, Lome the Togolese Capital.
