Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has disclosed that she got a tattoo to cope with the pain of a heartbreak.
In a recent interview with media personality Katy Igwe, Savage revealed that she flew a tattoo artist from Los Angeles to her home in Lagos so she could get the tattoo in private. She explained that she didn't want to be in a public tattoo parlor while going through such a painful process.
"I flew in my tattoo artist from LA to Nigeria," she said. "And I did it in my room. So I was in an environment where I was comfortable."
Savage recounted how the artist was concerned about her, noting that the session was "bloody." She explained that the intense physical pain was a way to express her emotional turmoil. "I did that from the pain I felt from a heartbreak," she shared. "I just wanted to do something to scream."
She added that the last two years were a difficult time for her and expressed relief at being out of that relationship.
