Tiwa Savage Breaks Silence on Davido Feud, Addresses Wizkid Romance Rumours

Nigerian music sensation, Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has finally spoken out on her long-rumoured feud with Davido, shedding light on what truly transpired between them. She also addressed persistent speculations about her alleged romantic ties with Wizkid.
Speaking during an in-depth interview on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, Savage disclosed that her fallout with Davido stemmed from a misunderstanding involving his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
According to her, the tension began after she posted an Instagram story with Sophia in December 2023, a gesture Davido reportedly misread as a sign of loyalty to Sophia amidst their private issues.
“Our kids are friends, they’ve gone to the same school since they were one. They’re 10 now. I naturally built a relationship with Sophia. I didn’t really know there were issues,” she explained.
Savage said her casual social media post was not meant to take sides in any personal conflict, but Davido allegedly interpreted it otherwise.
“He saw that and took it the wrong way. He felt like I knew what was happening and was on her side. But that’s not the case,” she clarified.
The Afrobeats star also revealed that Davido sent her private messages warning her to ‘be careful in Lagos.’ While she admitted the tone felt threatening, she said she never believed he intended to cause harm.
“I don’t think he was ever going to carry it out. David is such a joyful person. I think it was just a misunderstanding.”
Savage confirmed that she filed a police petition for safety reasons, after attempts to mediate the issue with Davido’s family proved unsuccessful.
“It wasn’t about revenge. I just wanted safety for everyone involved,” she said.
“I want everyone to know there’s no bad blood. I love him, and I always put our kids first,” she stated.
Addressing long-standing rumours of a romantic relationship with fellow star Wizkid, Tiwa Savage was unequivocal.
“Shout out to Wizkid. I love and respect Wizkid, but it’s not about him.”
She clarified that the mystery romance she previously referenced in her music was with someone else entirely. She described the experience as “embarrassing” and emotionally draining.
“It was tough. It chipped away at me, but it shaped my music. That pain comes through in my songs.”
The interview has since sparked massive reactions online, with fans praising Tiwa Savage for her vulnerability and maturity in handling sensitive issues.
“Tiwa spoke her truth with grace. So much respect for her,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
With this rare public disclosure, the Afrobeats queen has now offered clarity on two of the most widely discussed controversies in Nigerian entertainment.
