Tinubu’s Administration Accountable to Nigerians – SGF Akume
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s unwavering commitment to accountability, stewardship, and public trust in governance.
Speaking on Monday at the Mandatory Training Programme for Chief Executive Officers of Federal Government Parastatals and Agencies, held at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Topo, Badagry, Akume emphasized that no CEO would be spared if found wanting in the performance of their duties.
Represented by Prof. Simon Okoya, a Professor of Law at the University of Lagos, Akume stated that President Bola Tinubu had directed all public officers to remember that leadership is a trust, and every office holder must demonstrate integrity, transparency, and service delivery at all times.
“As CEOs, you are the points of contact between government and millions of citizens. Their perception of government is shaped by the efficiency and responsiveness of your institutions,” Akume said.
He highlighted the critical role of CEOs in actualizing the president’s eight-point Renewed Hope Agenda, pointing to the Policy and Coordination Office that monitors delivery and tracks performance.
“You have been assigned your Key Results Areas (KRAs) and signed Performance Contracts. You sit at the heart of the transformation agenda — every reform, every initiative, and every promise depends on your discipline and professionalism,” he added.
The SGF also praised the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), led by Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, for its continued efforts in driving the service-wide implementation of the training programme.
In her remarks, Walson-Jack said the two-week leadership programme underscored the government’s collective commitment to building a competent, innovative, and effective public service, aligned with global best practices.
The training aims to equip CEOs with the tools and mindset needed to translate federal policies into tangible results for Nigerians, in line with President Tinubu’s vision of a responsive and people-focused public sector.
