The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has reaffirmed the president’s unwavering commitment to national progress, following critical remarks made by Pastor Tunde Bakare on the state of the nation.

 

Responding to the clergyman’s Easter message, Bwala acknowledged that while some of Bakare’s observations were pointed, they were largely balanced and rooted in good faith.

 

In his sermon, Pastor Bakare expressed concern over what he described as a drift towards authoritarianism and the erosion of democratic norms under the current administration. He highlighted the increasing economic hardship facing citizens and cautioned against governance that neglects the principles of democracy—a message that sparked significant public and political discourse.

 

In a reaction posted via his official social media handle, Bwala emphasized Bakare’s right to freely express his views and commended the thoughtful tone of the message. Bwala stressed that while the administration may not align with every perspective offered, it values the dialogue as essential to a thriving democracy. He reiterated that President Tinubu remains focused on delivering reforms designed to create long-term benefits for Nigeria.

 

“We respect his right to speak, and assure him—as we do all Nigerians—that President Tinubu is determined to deliver on the promise to the Nigerian people,” Bwala concluded.
