Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has surrendered to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being invited for questioning. According to his media office, Bello was accompanied by high-profile Nigerians to the EFCC headquarters. This development comes after Bello was served with 19-count charges related to money laundering amounting to N80,246,470,089.88.

The former governor stated that he has great respect for constituted authority and the rule of law, and his decision to honor the EFCC's invitation was made after consulting with his family, legal team, and political allies. Bello's legal team has been representing him in court hearings, and he claims to have nothing to hide or fear.

Notably, Bello expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to combat corruption and promote sustainable economic development in Nigeria.  As the first governor of Kogi State to implement anti-corruption measures, Bello aims to clear his name and demonstrate his commitment to transparency.
