‎Born on December 1, 2009, to Mr. and Mrs. Alegu from Ebonyi State in eastern Nigeria, Solomon Alegu’s journey is one defined by resilience, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
‎
‎
‎He spent his early years with his family before relocating to Benin City, Edo State, in search of better educational and sporting opportunities.
‎
‎
‎
‎At a young age, Solomon discovered his passion for Taekwondo.

 With the unwavering support of his family, his grassroot coach Coach Ezenwa Inyagha, he began training at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City under dedicated Edo state Taekwondo coaches who helped nurture his talent and shape his career.

‎Driven by dedication, diligence, and determination—the three pillars of his success—Solomon remained focused as he prepared for his first major competition.
‎
‎
‎
‎His breakthrough came at the 2023 National Youth Games in Asaba, where he competed in the -55kg boys’ category and clinched a gold medal. 
‎
‎
‎This victory marked the beginning of a promising career and ignited a stronger belief in his potential.

 

‎Rather than resting on his laurels, Solomon used his success as motivation to aim higher and work harder toward future goals.
‎
‎
‎
‎In 2024, following the establishment of the National Sports Commission, Nigeria was selected among several African countries to participate in the Olympic Solidarity Camp in Dakar, Senegal.

 Solomon Alegu, alongside David Iniobong, Miracle Andrew, and Umeh Miracle, was selected to represent the country, gaining valuable international exposure.

‎During the same period, the National Sports Commission facilitated the athletes’ participation in the Senior African Taekwondo Championships in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, further enriching their experience on the global stage.

‎
‎Building on this momentum, Solomon was invited to the national camp ahead of the African Junior Taekwondo Championships held in Luanda, Angola, in December, where he earned a bronze medal in the -59kg category.
‎
‎
‎ This achievement earned him a nomination by World Taekwondo to compete at the ongoing World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
‎
‎
‎
‎Continuing his impressive run, Solomon recently emerged champion at the Niger Delta Games held in Benin City, Edo State, securing another gold medal in the -58kg category.
‎
‎
‎As he steps onto the global stage in Uzbekistan, Solomon Alegu stands as a symbol of Nigeria’s growing strength in Taekwondo.
