Desperation, according to The Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary can be defined as a state of being desperate. It refers to feeling or showing that you have little hope or are ready to do anything without worrying about danger to yourself or others.

It is so appalling and disheartening to know that the outgoing market leadership at the Eziukwu road market Aba has condescended so low to the level of using lies and false accusations as a weapon and strategy to hold onto power even as it's obvious that their tenure has elapsed.

Just recently their was a report that some faceless individuals reopened some sealed sections of Zone 9, Zone 13 and Zone 15 of the market, which was recently sealed by The National Agency For Food Drugs Administration And Control (NAFDAC) following the recent crackdown on counterfeit, adulterated and expired products. 

The outgoing market leadership accused Hon. Moses Ibe Oba alongside Mr Kingsley Igwe as perpetrators of the illegal act of reopening the sealed shops. At this point I will like to remind the rumour peddlers and their sponsors that Hon. Moses Ibe Oba is a law abiding citizen of the state and country.

Hon. Oba's track record of uprightness, competence, effective and visionary leadership is the major reason he was unanimously chosen by the Governor and well meaning Ndi Abia as the incoming Chairman of Eziukwu road market. An attempt to tarnish his image by playing this cheap and senseless game of accusations is one that would not help anyone.

The peddlers and sponsors of this rumour and accusations should better realize that their accusations are already dead on arrival as the traders and stakeholders of Abia State has unanimously accepted  Hon. M.I. Oba as the incoming Chairman of Eziukwu road market.

So I  advise the outgoing leadership of the market to choose the path of honour and sportsmanship, and allow the government's decision to stand and also not ruin their chance of future relevance by this act of desperation.
