The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) proudly announces that Team Nigeria’s Girls’ U-12 squad has emerged champions of the ITF/CAT U-12 West African Junior Teams’ Championship, thereby securing qualification to the Africa Junior Teams’ Championship (AJC).

The regional tournament, held from September 15–19, 2025, at the Gold Coast Tennis Club, Accra, Ghana, featured top junior teams from across West Africa, including Ghana, Togo, Benin, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

Nigeria’s trio of Mofifunoluwa Atilola, Karina Opuene, and Mabubat Rasaki were in dominant form throughout the event, winning all their matches with an unyielding display of teamwork, grit, and exceptional tennis.

In the girls’ final, Nigeria swept hosts Ghana 3-0 in emphatic fashion:

With this victory, Team Nigeria Girls not only claimed the West African title but also booked their place at the Africa Junior Teams’ Championship (AJC), where they will compete against the best teams from across the continent.

On the boys’ side, Team Nigeria gave a spirited performance but fell short of qualification. Despite the results, the experience proved invaluable, further strengthening the Federation’s resolve to nurture the next generation of tennis champions.

The Federation commends all the players for their efforts and reaffirms its commitment to youth development, ensuring that Nigerian tennis continues to shine brightly on the international stage.
