Tunde Ogunja, a former Nigeria international and General Manager of Sunshine Stars of Akure, has dedicated the Owena Whales emphatic 2-0 defeat of Doma United in Wednesday's NPFL Match Day 16 fixture to the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Akeredolu reportedly gave up the ghost on Wednesday, 27 December, 2023, after a protracted battle with lukeumania.

"We won 2-0 today against Doma United in what seems our last home match for the year 2023", starts Ogunja in a most pensive tone.

"It's a good performance by the players and I dedicate it to my late brother, Rotimi Akeredolu".

Two goals, one on either half of the feisty contest, by Emmanuel Isaac on 19th minute and Opeolues Olufemi (47th minute) handed Sunshine Stars the hefty win.

Two days ago, Sunshine Stars lost their Assistant Kit Manager, Taiwo Dosunmu, who died following injuries he sustained when the club was attacked by gunmen on their way to Benin for a league game against Bendel Insurance.
