Subsidy Removal Will Be Beneficial At The Long Run"... Seyi Law

Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has come out in support of President Bola Tinubu's decision to remove the fuel subsidy, despite the hardship it's caused for many. He believes that scrapping the subsidy is beneficial for Nigerians in the long run and should have been done years ago.

Seyi Law pointed out that if the subsidy had been removed in 2012, during Goodluck Jonathan's presidency, Nigerians would have already overcome the initial difficulties and be reaping the benefits by now. He recalled being the only celebrity to publicly oppose the anti-fuel subsidy movement back in 2012, citing Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala's warning that the country couldn't afford to keep borrowing to pay salaries.

It's interesting to note that Seyi Law's stance on this issue highlights the complexity of Nigeria's economic challenges. While some may argue that the removal of the fuel subsidy will lead to increased economic growth, others are concerned about the immediate impact on the average Nigerian.
