Enyimba struck twice late to earn a CAF Confederation Cup ticket for 2024 after a hectic NPFL Match Day 38 clash against Plateau United Sunday in Aba, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

After a wasteful first period, it looked as though the Tin City side would snatch a point in the game despite Enyimba's near total dominance.

The nine-time winners know forehand they had everything to win and everything to lose and went headlong for it but timid finish in the final third, leading to a plethora of wasted opportunities.

But back in the second period, Enyimba raised their urgency, forcing Plateau United to defend in numbers, rather employing the counter attack whenever the opportunity presented itself.

But with 13 minutes left on the clock, Chijioke Mbaoma put on display what made him to be Nigeria's top scorer for the concluded season when he broke from the left and drilled a left footed effort into the far corner for the opening goal. The stadium went crazy with joy.

Ten minutes later, Academy Balogun doubled the People's Elephant's advantage when beat Plateau United's off side trap to fire into the bottom corner.

The 2-0 win sees Enyimba finish third on the final standings with 63 points, one point adrift of Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, to seal a fifth 
CAF Confederation Cup berth following appearances in 2010, 2018, 2020 and 202 campaigns.
