Spectator has been away for a while but very much at the background watching events as they unfold. Some of these events have positive impacts while some have negative tendencies. As the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) celebrate her Diamond Jubilee even at this moment of uncertainties especially as it concerns the Nigeria Football ecosystem, I wish to celebrate with the Sports Journalists on the journey so far. You have gone through your challenges as a body but it is important to join you as a pioneer member of the Association to give you a resounding ovation on this 60th anniversary.

While I was preparing to attend the Awards ceremony to honour the Association and the honorees, my attention went to a planned protest against the management of Football in Nigeria. I also saw another write up condeming the proposed  protest. The protest has been scheduled to hold on November 17.

A lot of things started running through my mind. Questions resonating. I was practically interviewing myself. What is the protest for? Why the protest? When is the protest? Where is the protest going to hold? Who are those involved in the protest? I believe you already know the answers to a reasonable level. I have some clue also but I need to be convinced further of the need for the protest. I am aware that there were plans at the larger political atmosphere to embark on one protest or the other either for or against certain interests. Football commands massive followership among different groups with diverse interests. Yes! Football has the capacity to bring all interest groups to speak with one accord. However, when they shift from Football, they naturally tilt towards their various groups and interests whether political, religious, economic, among others.

The questions keep bugging my mind. Are there internal and external influence in the proposed protest? As I have read from some contributions, is it true that some interests were waiting for the Super Eagles not to qualify for the playoffs so as to use it as reason to protest? Is it true that the plan had to change because of the qualification of the Super Eagles for the playoffs? Is it true that the new card on the table is to use Dr Sanusi Mohammed, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as a potent reason to embark on protest? Could it be true in the comparism of the FIFA Goal Project in Kebbi to the one being executed in Kenya?
I think the comparism of the two projects may have happened for lack of adequate information from those who made it to go viral.
Could there be something sinister to a genuine intention to correct a system perceived to be malfunctioning? 
I want to ask another question. Is the Save Nigeria Football Movement (SNFM) a new organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) or affiliated to the Nigeria Football Federation? Just asking. To the best of the little I know, to make a positive impact in the Football ecosystem, you need to be a stakeholder. Please forgive me if I got it wrong. If I am correct, who are the stakeholders putting the Save Nigeria Football Movement together?
I see their intention as a good move but it must be free of any sinister motive. I will support every move by fellow stakeholders with good intentions to call the Nigeria Football Federation to account as may be necessary. I will not support anything that may be carefully crafted to realize the ambitions or interests of some people against the collective interest of Football stakeholders. If there is any protest to embark upon now is if the NFF is not handling the playoffs properly as required. Anything different could have selfish motives attached.
I am left with skepticism in my mind.
