A few days ago, Spectator looked into the salient points of the the Annual General Meeting of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA). It is also worthy to note that Spectator has done similar commentaries to Communiques issued by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Let us now move from the Centre of Excellence in Lagos to the Centre of Unity in Abuja. The FCT Football Association Annual General Meeting 2024 has come and it's now in history that it held. How was the preparation for the AGM? What were the issues discussed? What achievements were recorded and reported? What are the plans reached and articulated for implementation in the coming year or years to come? I believe you already have a bit of decisions reached as contained in the communique.

When I saw the communique, I asked if Observers or some Special Guests were invited for the AGM. For clarity purpose, I mean Football Stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). I am talking about former FCT Football Association Chairmen like Sani Lulu Abdullahi (also former President, NFF), Emmanuel Danjuma Attah (now CEO of the Nigeria National League), Musa Saeed Talle, including Patrick Ngwaogu (former FCT FA Vice Chairman 1), Barrister Victoria Nlemigbo, Hashimu Adamu Ojah (currently Chairman of the FCT Referees Council and former Board member, FCT FA). Let me pause on the list of the stakeholders. I believe the presence of these dignitaries (Observers) would have enriched the roll call of the AGM in addition to the wise counsel and support that would have come from them.

I believe that the FCT FA may have lived up to the christening of its operational geographical and political space as "Centre of Unity". If this was not observed, I believe it should be seen as an oversight which will be corrected in subsequent events.
Unlike the AGM of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), the FCT Football Association AGM suffered pre-event publicity deficit only to engage in post-event publicity. The conclusion is that the event has come, held and concluded. Join Spectator to look at issues discussed and resolutions reached.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE  ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)  OF FCT FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION , HELD ON MONDAY 30TH OF SEPTEMBER, 2024 AT AREA 10 SPORTS COMPLEX.

The FCT Football Association  rose from its Annual General Meeting on this day 30th September, 2024 with the following as its resolutions:

 *SPECTATOR:* 
Commendable effort.

 *FCT FA:* 

The FCT Football Association  appreciated the Honourable Minister FCT, the FCT Sports Council and the good people of FCT for their continuous support, collaboration and guidance in the affairs and operation of FCT Football Association.

 *SPECTATOR:* 

As much as it's good to appreciate the Leadership of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), it is ideal for the Congress to ask for the authorities  by give attention to having a better sports administration structure (FCT Sports Commission), provision of sports facilities and other areas requiring intervention in Sports in FCT.

 *FCT FA:* 

The AGM in no small measure appreciated the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau for providing excellent leadership and unfettered ground for for the activities of the FCT Football Association. 

 *SPECTATOR:* 
Spectator aligns with the FCT Football Association in their relationship with the NFF but how much or how well has the FCT FA leveraged on the support for the development and progress of Football in FCT?

 *FCT FA:* 

The AGM ratified and approved the promotion of teams from the FCT League division 2 to 1 in the 2024 league season.

 *SPECTATOR:* 
Commendable.
I also expected the AGM to express regrets on the relegation of some FCT based NNL Teams to the Nation Wide League One.
The AGM should have apologized for the absence of the FCT Football Association during the NNL Super 8 play off in Enugu and the NLO to NNL qualifying play off match between FWC Champions and Basira FC. The EFCC FC also played up to the quarter finals of the Federation Cup 2024 without the visible presence of the FCT Football Association. The AGM should have tendered an apology.

 *FCT FA:* 

The AGM after reviewing the activities of the various Area Councils, commended them for championing grassroots football development and organizing useful football competitions aimed at promoting the game of football in the FCT Football Association.

 *SPECTATOR:* 
Kudos to the Six Football Councils.

 *FCT FA:* 

The AGM charged the FCT Football to expedite action on securing sponsors/partners for the activities of FCT Football Association.

 *SPECTATOR:* 
I like the word "charged". The battery is very low. Get charged and be empowered with great sponsorship. We have just witnessed the Rising Star Football League (RSFL) where the winner of the League went home with Eleven Million (N11million).

 *FCT FA:* 

The AGM approved the by-election into the office of the 1st Vice Chairman which is vacant at the moment, while charging the electoral committee to come up with modalities to actualize this in the shortest possible time.

 *SPECTATOR:* 
There was no reason for that position to be vacant. Hon. Salihu Kolo was covering the gap for the Chairman's non attendance of NFF AGM. The FCT Football Association represents the interests of stakeholders. That gap has been visibly left open for 16 months. There is the need to cover the gap again.

 *FCT FA:* 

The AGM passed a vote of explicit confidence on the Board of the FCT Football Association  for the good work they're doing and for successfully repositioning the Association.

This is a ritual in every Communique but the Stakeholders are better judges in this instance.
