Silverbird TV Presenter Joy Counters Yhemolee’s Comments on Rape and False Accusations
Media personality Joy of Silverbird Television has responded firmly to remarks made by nightlife figure Yhemolee regarding rape and false allegations.
Reacting during a recent discussion, Joy dismissed the notion that false rape accusations have destroyed the careers of numerous men in Nigeria. She argued that several high-profile individuals who have faced public allegations continue to maintain successful careers and strong support bases.
Among those she referenced were entertainer D’banj, pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, and pastor Chris Okafor. According to Joy, despite the controversies and accusations that once dominated headlines, “these men still have booming careers and loyal followers.”
Joy emphasized that while false accusations are wrong and should carry consequences, they should not be placed on the same level as rape itself.
“Rape is very bad. It affects a woman physically, psychologically and mentally,” she said, adding that equating rape and false allegations is “not logical.”
She further questioned why some individuals are quick to speak out when discussing false accusations but remain silent when rape cases first emerge.
Her comments have since ignited widespread debate online, with social media users divided over the weight, impact, and consequences of both rape and false accusations, and the broader conversation about accountability and justice.
