Shooting Stars Lose Home Opener as Bayelsa United Snatch Victory in NPFL Season Kickoff

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan suffered a disappointing home defeat on Sunday in the opening game of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
Bayelsa United secured a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to Kehinde Lawal, who scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute. Lawal headed in a corner kick after the home side lost concentration in defense.
Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, Shooting Stars were repeatedly denied by the impressive performance of Bayelsa United’s goalkeeper, leaving the home fans frustrated.

• Kwara United FC and Ikorodu City FC played to a 0-0 draw.
• Barau FC and Enyimba FC also settled for a goalless draw.
• Warri Wolves edged Katsina United FC 1-0.
• Abia Warriors FC defeated Kano Pillars FC 1-0.
• El-Kanemi Warriors FC triumphed over Bendel Insurance FC 2-0.
• Wikki Tourists FC claimed a 1-0 win against Plateau United FC.
• The clash between Rangers International FC and Kun Khalifat FC ended goalless.
