Shaffy Bello Opens Up on Family Planning Decision and Motherhood
Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has shared intimate details about a major personal decision she made regarding childbirth and family planning.
Speaking candidly, the actress revealed that she chose to undergo a procedure to stop having more children, despite her ex-husband’s desire for a larger family.
“My ex-husband had to beg for me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” she said.
Shaffy Bello explained that she underwent a surgical procedure—commonly known as tying the tubes—to prevent future pregnancies. According to her, the process involved doctors accessing her reproductive system through her navel and permanently closing her fallopian tubes.
“That was it. They closed my eggs,” she added, emphasizing the finality of the decision.
Reflecting on the experience with a touch of humor and spirituality, the actress noted, “I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary—it’s a holy child.”
Her revelation sheds light on the deeply personal choices women make about their bodies, family size, and long-term life plans, while also highlighting the importance of autonomy in reproductive health decisions.
