Afrobeats singer Seyi Shay has finally addressed the years-long feud between her and fellow music superstar Tiwa Savage, revealing that the fallout was rooted in a shocking revelation made by a former personal assistant.

 

Speaking during a candid interview on the OffAir Show, Seyi Shay explained that she had long been confused about why her once-close friendship with Tiwa Savage suddenly turned sour—until a chance encounter with the ex-staff member shed light on the situation.

 

“I honestly didn’t know why Tiwa and I stopped talking to each other,” Seyi said. “A young lady I hired as a PA back when Didi was still managing me… after the whole salon experience, I moved to London to have my daughter. I saw this girl at the club, someone I hadn’t seen in about seven years. She hit me up on Instagram, we met for lunch, and she said, ‘I saw what happened and I’m really sorry. It is very detrimental to your career and I feel like I’m the cause of it.’”

 

According to Seyi Shay, the former assistant confessed to having been romantically involved with Tiwa Savage’s husband at the time—unbeknownst to Seyi.

 

“To cut the long story short, it turns out the girl was having a relationship with my girl’s husband and I didn’t even know,” she revealed. “She told me all of that. It must have been true; I don’t think she would say all of that as a joke.”

 

The singer said the revelation left her “disgusted,” particularly because of how close she and Tiwa were during that period.

 

“When she told me this, I was disgusted because we were rolling together and doing things together. Meanwhile, Tiwa probably thought I knew about it,” she said. “You can just imagine the anger. It’s so painful. If that was me, I would have done worse.”

 

The feud between the two stars notoriously peaked in 2021 during a heated confrontation at a Lagos salon, which went viral and fueled ongoing speculation about the cause of their fallout. Until now, neither party had fully addressed the root of the conflict.
