According to people wey see wetin happen, di whole wahala start when phone mistakenly fall from person hand inside pit latrine. One of di guys talk say him go enter go bring am out. As he enter, na so people hear am dey shout for help — then everywhere quiet.

 

Another man rush go inside to rescue am, but na so he sef no come out again.

 

Di sad matter scatter di area. People gather, some dey shout, others dey cry. Dem quick call Kano Fire Service, but by di time rescue team show, both of dem don die.

 

Kano State Fire Service confirm say na poisonous gas from di toilet fit kill dem. Dem talk say dis kind gas fit make person faint or even die within small time if e no get fresh air. Family and neighbors wey gather dey cry bitterly. One old mama wey dey cry talk say, “Na help dem dey try help o. See how dem take go just like dat. Heartbreak too much.”

 

Later, dem carry di dead bodies give police.

 

Dis kain tragedy don make many people for di area begin talk about why e dey important to get better safety knowledge. People dey call say make dem dey warn others about di danger of entering pit toilet, especially without proper equipment or training.
