Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed condolences to Chinedu Oha, Leader of APC Mgbidi/Mmaku Ward, over the passing of his father, Late High Chief Ibezimako Okerekechile Ohani.

In a heartfelt message, Akpabio extended sympathies on behalf of his family, the APC community in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, and the 10th Senate. He described the late chief as a distinguished community leader whose impact transcended his title, leaving a legacy of wisdom and service.

“The loss is profound, not just to your family but to the entire community, which has been deprived of a fountain of wisdom. The vacuum he leaves is immense, but his good deeds will sustain his memory in the hearts of those who knew him,” Akpabio said. He also prayed for the family’s fortitude and the repose of the departed soul.

Similarly, HRH Igwe C. M. Nevobasi, Chairman of the Awgu LG Traditional  Council of Enugu State , expressed shock over the news, calling the late High Chief a “rare gem” and a pillar of the Uhuagu and Mmaku Kingdoms. “The entire community mourns the passing of a great man. We love you, Ibezimako, but God loves you more. May your spirit of kindness remain with us,” Igwe Nevobasi said.

The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also commiserated with the Oha family, acknowledging the late chief’s positive impact on numerous lives and praying for strength for the bereaved family. The NFF and NNL in their separate messages prayed God to accept the soul of the sage, and console the immediate family and community in a whole. 

The late High Chief Ibezimako Ohani will be laid to rest on January 3, 2025, in his hometown, Uhuagu, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State. He is survived by many children including Chinedu Oha, a staff of the Nigerian National League of the NFF.
