Popular Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has opened up about her decision to keep her marriage away from the public spotlight, saying it has been instrumental in preserving her peace, privacy, and personal stability.

 

Speaking on the latest episode of the Dear Ife series with Ifedayo Agoro, the mother of two explained that her choice to separate her personal life from her public persona has been one of the best decisions she’s made as a celebrity.

 

“I think it was the best decision I ever made because it has helped me stay grounded,” Kadiri said. “It has helped me define my relationship. I don’t have external factors deciding how I deal or relate with my spouse.”

 

Kadiri, who is known for her prolific work in the Nigerian film industry, said that keeping her husband out of the limelight has also spared him from unnecessary public scrutiny and pressure.

 

“People do not know him, so there is no pressure on his end,” she added.

 

However, the actress clarified that her husband is not a “secret,” as often speculated, but rather a private person by choice.

 

“My husband is not a secret. My life is not as private as people think. People who know me know him. That’s enough. I’m not hiding my husband. We go to church together, events—they post his pictures. Most events I organize, he is there,” she noted.

 

Kadiri said her husband has a calm, spiritually focused online presence.

 

“Check his social media page, he posts only the Word of God—not even his pictures. He is private,” she said.

 

Addressing the unique challenges that celebrity marriages often face, Kadiri highlighted the pressures of public opinion and the constant media attention.

 

“Marital pressures as celebrities is also something we don’t talk about a lot,” she said. “Seeing that my career is thriving at this point, I keep telling myself thank God there’s an aspect of me that I can stand on and control.”
