The Rodney Youth Football League, under the visionary leadership of its organizer, Coach Sabina Nwosuekke, has unveiled an expanded and more rewarding prize structure for the 2025 edition of the tournament. Coach Sabina, who has single-handedly coordinated and funded the league since its inception, reaffirmed her commitment to empowering young footballers and strengthening grassroots football development within the community.

 

According to the organizers, this year’s improved prize package is designed to motivate teams, celebrate excellence, and acknowledge the efforts of every participant:

1. Champions and runners-up across all categories will receive 25 medals each.

2. Winners will be honoured with trophies and cash prizes.

3. Special recognitions — including Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, Best Coach, Golden Boot, and Best Developing Academy — will be awarded with official certificates.

4. All participating coaches will receive Participation Certificates. In addition, each coach has been presented with a customized kit bag in appreciation of their contribution to youth development.

5. Match-day MVP certificates have been awarded after every game, encouraging consistent individual performance.

6. The player with the highest accumulated MVP awards will be crowned the league’s Overall Best Player.

7. Cash Prizes by Category:

• U-6 Category: Winner – ₦200,000 | Runner-up – ₦100,000

• U-13 Category: Winner – ₦150,000

• U-15 Category: Winner – ₦350,000 | Runner-up – ₦200,000

 

In total, the 2025 Rodney Youth Football League features an impressive ₦1,250,000 cash prize pool, reflecting the league’s growth and its increasing impact on grassroots football.
