Rivers United secured a hard-fought 2-0 win over Enyimba FC, ending their unbeaten run in the 2024/25 NPFL season. Ubong Friday and Seiyefa Jackson scored in each half to give Coach Finidi George's side the crucial victory.

Coach Yemi Olanrewaju attributed Enyimba's loss to minor mistakes, acknowledging Rivers United's luck with goals. "We didn't deserve to lose, but we must move on," he said.

Coach Finidi George praised his young players, particularly Jackson, for their impressive performance. "It wasn't an easy win, but we worked well together," he noted.

Coach Olanrewaju highlighted Enyimba's aggressive play in the second half, but conceded that Rivers United's counter-attack led to the second goal. He cited the absence of key players, including Daniel Daga and Clinton Jephta, due to national team duties.

Despite the loss, Coach Olanrewaju expressed optimism about Enyimba's prospects, given their recent progress to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. He appealed for fan support, acknowledging the challenging schedule ahead.

Both coaches dismissed any rivalry, emphasizing mutual respect. Coach Finidi George congratulated Enyimba on their CAF Confederation Cup achievement and wished them well.

Next, Enyimba faces Akwa United on Wednesday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, in a rescheduled NPFL Matchday 3 encounter.
