Remo Ladies Coach Eyes NWFL Super Six

Remo Stars Ladies Coach Wemimo Mathew Eyes Super Six After Unbeaten Start
After four games without defeat, Remo Stars Ladies head coach, Wemimo Mathew, is setting high ambitions for the Sky Blue Ladies as they continue their impressive run in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.
The Ikenne-based team secured their third victory of the season with a commanding 4-1 win over visiting Heartland Queens, propelling them to the top of Group A on Wednesday. Their only slip so far was a 1-1 draw against defending champions Edo Queens last week.
Reflecting on the hard-fought win against the Owerri-based side, Mathew acknowledged the challenge posed by Heartland Queens. “It wasn’t easy because we played against a very good team. In the first half, they gave us a very tough time,” she said after the match.
Mathew revealed her half-time pep talk was crucial in turning the tide. “I had to let them know that this game is very important. We missed a lot of chances in our last two games and needed to score more goals. In the first half, they were anxious, but I told them to calm down and they executed perfectly in the second half,” she explained.
With the NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoffs in sight, Mathew remains focused on maintaining the team’s unbeaten run in their second season in the league. “Remo Stars Ladies have come to stay. Our desire from the beginning of the league is to win all matches. This is the fourth game now, and we have not lost,” she stated confidently.
Next up for Remo Stars Ladies is a home fixture against Abia Angels as they continue their quest for Super Six qualification and a shot at the league title.
