PRO Sports Academy, based in Doha, Qatar, has emerged as the champion in both the Under-9 and Under-11 categories of the Qatar Junior Premier League (Qatar JPL), marking a remarkable achievement for the rapidly rising football institution.
Revealing the development from his base in Doha, the team’s coach, Musa Ibrahim, told ExclusiveNews.com.ng that eight teams competed in each of the U9 and U10 categories. The top four teams advanced to the semi-final playoffs, which produced the finalists.
Quoting his words, the Nigerian-born coach said, “We won the U11 and U9 respectively, after our U10 narrowly lost out in the semi-finals.”
Coach Musa Ibrahim, popularly known as Ufedo, highlighted the swift progression he has made since joining the academy.
“I joined PRO Sports Academy in the middle of last season as a coach, but just a month after, I was made the Technical Director and Head of Coaching at the academy,” he revealed.
He further recapped the academy’s impressive achievements in the previous season: “We ended the season winning the female JPL Development League, won the JPL Development League for the U8 and U9, and finished in the semi-final of the Qatar JPL Main League.”
Looking at the current season, the coach expressed pride in the team’s continued success.
“This season, we have already won the U9 and U11 Qatar JPL League in our category. We narrowly lost in the semi-final with the U10s,” he added.
Coach Ufedo extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed to the academy’s triumphs.
“I want to thank the players for the efforts they’ve put in since the start of the season, the parents for their unwavering support, and the management of the academy for entrusting me with this project.”
With the season concluded, he said it is now time for the team to take a short break.
“It’s time to rest, recharge, and prepare for the next Qatar JPL League season from January onwards,” he concluded.
