Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has resigned from his position, citing a family health crisis as the reason for his decision. In a statement, Ngelale revealed that he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, informing him of his intention to take an indefinite leave of absence to attend to a pressing medical issue affecting his immediate family.

The statement read: "I have made the difficult decision to pause my functions as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, to focus on a worsening medical situation at home."

Ngelale emphasized that the decision was made after consulting with his family over several days, as the health crisis has become increasingly severe. He acknowledged that the demands of his role cannot be put on hold, but felt compelled to prioritize his family's well-being during this challenging time.

Ngelale's resignation is effective immediately, and he will be taking a temporary leave of absence to support his family through this difficult period. The President's office has not yet announced a replacement for Ngelale's position.
