President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved significant changes in the hierarchy of the nation’s security leadership, appointing new Service Chiefs as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture.

In the latest reshuffle, the President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. Also appointed are Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as the new Chief of Naval Staff.

Meanwhile, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

According to a statement from the Presidency, all appointments take immediate effect.

President Tinubu, who serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other former Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership during their tenure.

The President further charged the newly appointed military chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by working to enhance the professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
