President Tinubu Congratulates Winners of Elections in FCT, Kano and Rivers
Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the states of Kano and Rivers.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections in the six area councils of the FCT, alongside by-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies of Rivers State, as well as in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
President Tinubu urged the victorious candidates to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication, stressing that the mandate freely given by the people must be regarded as a sacred trust.
He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that the strides recorded in the FCT had translated into political gains for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
The President also congratulated the APC national leadership, as well as the party’s leadership in Kano and Rivers states, and members of the party on their victories at the polls.
He lauded INEC, security agencies and voters for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections, describing the exercise as another testament to Nigeria’s growing democratic maturity.
President Tinubu further commended the courage and discipline demonstrated by all contestants, noting that democracy thrives on active participation and healthy competition.
Affirming that the successful conduct of the elections strengthens democratic culture and institutions, the President called on INEC to sustain and improve its efforts in delivering even more credible and exemplary electoral processes in the future.
