President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to two outstanding Nigerians, Mr. Farouk Gumel and Ms. Tobi Amusan, for their recent international accomplishments, which continue to shine a positive light on the nation.

In a statement issued on Monday, the President hailed the appointment of Farouk Gumel as Chairman of the Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited, describing it as a strong endorsement of his expertise, dedication, and the growing global recognition of Nigerian professionals.

“As Vice Chairman for Africa at the Tropical General Investment (TGI) Group, among other accomplishments, Mr. Gumel has remained a consistent player in Nigeria’s determined efforts toward food sufficiency,” President Tinubu said. “His leadership in this significant role brings immense pride to our nation, and I am confident he will excel and further cement Nigeria’s reputation for excellence in global finance.”

In the same vein, the President praised Nigerian sprint queen Tobi Amusan for her silver medal victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the ongoing 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

President Tinubu described Amusan as a symbol of Nigeria’s sporting excellence, noting her unrelenting drive, resilience, and patriotism.

“Tobi has once again demonstrated that with patriotic fervour, coupled with hard work and determination, any height is surmountable. Her achievement is a source of national pride,” he said.

The President assured both Gumel and Amusan of the Federal Government’s continued support in their respective endeavours and urged them to keep being worthy ambassadors of Nigeria on the global stage.

“These achievements remind us all that Nigeria’s talent is boundless, and with the right support and environment, our people can excel anywhere in the world,” Tinubu concluded.
