Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has stirred public debate after stating that political sins cannot condemn anyone to hellfire.

 

The former Edo State governor made the remark during the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress held in Benin City on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

 

Oshiomhole made the comment while responding to remarks by the newly elected APC chairman in Edo State, Jarret Tenebe, who had appealed for forgiveness over past political actions.

 

Reacting to the appeal, the senator said mistakes were inevitable in politics and should not be treated as eternal offences.

 

“Jarret said all the sins he has committed should be forgiven. I said he who does not sin does not belong to this planet Earth. Political sinners don’t need to go to hell,” Oshiomhole said.

 

He added that political mistakes are often temporary and should not define individuals permanently.

 

“Political sins can grow around a moment and then just dissolve. Jarret, you are brand new, staleness like a mint,” he added.

 

Oshiomhole’s comments have since sparked discussion among political observers, with some interpreting the statement as a call for tolerance and reconciliation within party politics.
