The Nigeria Police Force don talk say dem officers get full legal power to break door, climb fence or even pass ceiling to arrest any suspect wey refuse to cooperate during arrest.

 

Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Victor Isuku, yarn dis one on Sunday during one public interactive session wey happen for the premiere of Greatest Oath (The Rescue) — one movie wey Ocean Portal produce in partnership with the police — for Benin City, Edo State.

 

CSP Isuku warn say anybody wey try stop police from arresting suspect go also risk arrest.

 

“Police fit break door of person wey no gree cooperate, enter through roof or climb fence to arrest am. No block police when dem wan arrest person, else you sef go enter trouble,” he talk.

On top the matter of police checking people phone, Isuku explain say officers no suppose dey search mobile phone anyhow unless dem get “reasonable suspicion” say cybercrime dey involved.

 

He add say the Inspector-General of Police no dey support illegal phone search or extortion, and say such actions dey against police ethics.

CSP Isuku remind Nigerians once again say bail is free, and beg people make dem always read bail form well-well before dem sign am.

The police spokesperson still open up say poor funding na big wahala wey dey affect police work across the country. He beg Nigerians make dem help support the force — but not with money — rather with useful equipment wey go make police work easier.
