The dark clouds are gathering, ominiously hovering on the horizons in the fold of Rivers United as plot To unseat incumbent Manager, Stanley Eguma, as the Tehnical Manager of the fold thickens, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

This follows the appointment of Salisu Yusuf, a former Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers Technical helmsman, in advisory capacity for Rivers United.

Salisu Yusuf was recently frozen out of Super Eagles set up following reorganisations that swept through the senior National Team in the aftermath of Jose Peseiro's re-engagement after the Portugese gaffer accepted pay cut.

The 61-year-old arrival is seen as 'unnecessary distractiin' in the Pride of Rivers fold who are currently Nigeria's only surviving club in any CAF interclub competition this year and who are also faring well in the domestic Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

Since his purported engagement, Yusuf is understood to be hovering around the team, following them through their domestic league games at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa and Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, for their CAF Confederation Cup games.

The unfolding development is seen as a direct effort to undermine Stanley Eguma's work in the team and an expression of lack of confidence in him.

It could also be seen as a subtle path to ease him out, afterall, 'it's either he takes it or face the exit door'.

Since the emergence of the present administration in Rivers State, intrigues have overshadowed the club's hierarchy as political realignment continues to play out.

Exclusivenews.com.ng understands that it's not the first time Eguma is going through such ordeal in his management career. Seen as having stayed for 'too long' on the seat, campaign to see him out had become the Order of the day despite his tenure fetching the team and state their sweetest moments in Nigeria's club football. 

Eguma has previously won the NPFL title with Dolphins (which metamorphosed into Rivers Utd), and repeated similar feat in 2021/2022 and equally won the domestic cup too.

In 2003, while tinkering Dolphins, Eguma was subjected to similar situation, forcing him to quit for Gabros Internal and later Enyimba, with whom he won the 2004 CAF Champions League.
