Reality TV star and media personality Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has opened up about the difficult experiences she faced while growing up, revealing that her early life was marked by emotional struggles and a lack of family support.

The former winner of Big Brother Naija shared that she once disliked her birth name, Blessing, because she felt her life did not reflect the meaning of the name.

“The name given to me by my parents is Blessing. The reason for me hating that name was because I don’t see any sense of blessing in my life,” she said.

According to Phyna, she often felt like she had to beg for love and acceptance from those around her.

“It felt like I was always begging for love, family love, friendship, even in relationships. All aspects of life for me was very crazy,” she explained.

She also recalled that her teenage years were particularly challenging, stating that she received little support from her parents during that period.

“Even as a teenager, I didn’t get anything from my parents,” she added.

Despite the hardships, Phyna said she always believed she would eventually succeed and become known.

“But I just knew I was going to be big and they would watch me on screen,” she said.

Phyna rose to national fame after emerging as the winner of the 2022 edition of Big Brother Naija, and has since built a career in media and entertainment
