Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, don confirm say him still dey loyal to Labour Party (LP), even as e dey involve more for one new opposition coalition wey wan challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027 election.

 

As e dey talk for Abuja after dem unveil the coalition for Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Obi talk say the movement na to give Nigerians better option and good governance. E talk say him waka with the new alliance—wey dey use African Democratic Congress (ADC) as base—na for national interest, no be party wahala.

 

Obi yarn say:

“We don agree to work together as coalition for 2027 election. ADC na the party wey we go use do the work. But make everybody know say I still dey Labour Party. Wetin we dey focus on na to build government wey get character, sabi the work, and get human feeling.”

 

Obi wey run for president in 2023 under Labour Party still confirm say him go run again for 2027. Him come promise say if Nigerians elect am, he no go pass one term of 4 years.

 

“If Nigerians give me chance, I no go pass four years. You no need 10 years to do better thing – just have better plan and honest mind to serve,” Obi talk.

 

The coalition don set up one temporary leadership, with former Senate President David Mark as interim national chairman. Former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola go be interim national secretary, while Bolaji Abdullahi wey be former Sports Minister go handle publicity matter.

 

Dem been dey rumour say Obi fit run as Atiku Abubakar’s vice president again, but Obi don trash that talk.

 

“Nobody don meet me with that kind idea. I no get any such plan. I dey run for president. I believe say I fit do the work, and I dey ready.”

 

Obi also clear air say him join body no mean say he dey against him party (LP).

 

“This no be anti-party matter. We no dey leave our parties. We just dey work together for the sake of Nigeria,” he explain.

 

When dem ask am why e still wan contest, Obi point to all the wahala wey Nigerians dey face—hardship, insecurity, bad governance—say na signs say the current government no dey work well.

 

E promise say if e become president, him go rule with constitution, care for people, and make people dey accountable.
