The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fired back at former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, describing him as a failed and insignificant figure in Nigerian politics. Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), had claimed that the PDP has lost its relevance, attributing the party's decline to his exit.

However, the PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, swiftly responded to Kwankwaso's remarks, labeling him self-centered and lacking true leadership qualities. Ologunagba stated that Kwankwaso's inability to lead a party like the NNPP, which controls only one state, renders him inconsequential in Nigerian politics.

The PDP emphasized that Kwankwaso's achievements were made possible through the party, and his exit has not diminished the PDP's strength. With 13 governors, numerous senators, and a strong nationwide presence, the PDP remains a dominant force in Nigerian politics.

The statement criticized Kwankwaso's insensitivity, pointing out that while millions of Nigerians are struggling with poverty and economic hardship, his sole concern is his presidential ambition. The PDP concluded by stating that it will not engage further with Kwankwaso, as any relevance he believes he has was achieved during his time in the PDP.

The PDP's response highlights the ongoing rivalry between Kwankwaso and the party he once called home. As the 2023 elections approach, the exchange is likely to escalate, with each side seeking to outmaneuver the other in the battle for political supremacy.
