A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Nyesom Wike has declared it will not support Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, dismissed claims that the group is working with the ruling party. He insisted the PDP remains committed to presenting its own presidential candidate.

“We are not supporting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027 general election. We will do everything to field our own candidate,” Mohammed said, urging Nigerians to allow the party time to complete its internal processes.

He described reports suggesting alignment with the APC as propaganda aimed at discrediting both the PDP and Wike.

However, his comments appear to contradict the known position of Wike himself. The FCT Minister has repeatedly expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and has backed this stance with visible political gestures, including initiatives tied to the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” in Rivers State.

The divergence in positions highlights growing internal tensions within the PDP, raising questions about party unity and strategy as the 2027 elections approach.
