PDP Accuses Tinubu's Government of Misdirected Priorities, Says Hunger is the Real Sponsor of #EndBadGovernance Protests

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the federal government, led by President Bola Tinubu, is misdirecting its efforts by arresting protesters instead of addressing the root causes of the #EndBadGovernance protests that swept the country in August.

At a press conference held at the party's headquarters in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated that the party is aware of the sponsors of the protests, which he identified as hunger and hardship. Ologunagba urged the government to focus on addressing the economic challenges facing Nigerians rather than suppressing their right to protest.

The PDP spokesperson's comments came on the heels of the arrest of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajearo, which Ologunagba described as a misguided attempt to silence dissenting voices. He emphasized that the government's draconian policies are the real catalysts for the protests, and that addressing these issues would be a more effective way to restore stability.

"Hunger is the sponsor of the protest," Ologunagba declared. "The President and his people should arrest hunger, and there will be no problem. Let your policies that are bringing people to their knees be addressed. This is the season schools are resuming; we know what people are going through."
