Pastor Bolaji Idowu has come under criticism on social media after sharing photos from his church’s “RESET” crossover service held on December 31, 2024.

 

The cleric took to his social media pages to post images from the end-of-year service, which marked the transition into the new year. Several of the photos featured well-known celebrities, social media influencers, and TikTok personalities, including popular content creator Peller.

 

The posts quickly drew attention on X (formerly Twitter), where some users questioned the focus of the shared images. Critics argued that the photos appeared to prioritise celebrities over longtime members of the church, such as ushers, choristers, and volunteers who regularly serve behind the scenes.

 

Some commenters accused the church of placing too much emphasis on social media visibility and celebrity appeal, suggesting that ordinary worshippers were being sidelined in favour of famous faces who attract online engagement.

 

However, the criticism was met with strong pushback from others who defended Pastor Bolaji. Supporters argued that celebrities also need spiritual guidance and that showcasing their presence in church could encourage more people, especially young followers, to attend services or explore faith.

 

Others maintained that the church had every right to celebrate notable attendees at its events, adding that visibility on social media can be an effective tool for spreading religious messages in the digital age.
