Fresh controversy has erupted in Nigeria’s entertainment scene following claims by veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka—popularly known for his role in the iconic TV comedy Papa Ajasco and Company—that he is currently facing financial hardship.

 

The development has triggered a swift response from renowned producer Wale Adenuga and his outfit, Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP), who have strongly refuted the actor’s claims.

 

In an official statement, WAP dismissed the narrative of neglect, insisting that Ayoyinka has benefitted significantly from his long-standing association with the production company. The statement revealed that the actor was once gifted a car alongside a colleague and has reportedly had access to no fewer than five different vehicles over the years, including a Mercedes-Benz.

 

The production house further disclosed that, to the best of its knowledge, Ayoyinka owns a house in Ogun State—raising questions about the basis of his recent public declaration of financial struggles.

 

WAP also pointed to the actor’s over three decades of service as a civil servant with the Lagos State Government, questioning what became of his retirement benefits, gratuities, and possible investments accumulated during that period.

 

Highlighting its operational structure, the company noted that actors involved in the long-running comedy series are not restricted from pursuing other income-generating opportunities. According to WAP, production for Papa Ajasco and Company typically spans only about six weeks annually, leaving ample time for cast members to engage in other ventures.

 

The statement concluded by affirming that the company has consistently met its financial obligations to its actors and described allegations of exploitation or neglect as misleading.
