More than 47 Graduates of the UNIZIK High School (UHS) who made Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka their first choice have been offered admission into the undergraduate regular programme of the institution for the upcoming 2023/24 academic session.

This disclosure was made by the Principal UHS, Mrs Isreal Atinuke during an interview session with reporters on the occasion of the 11th Graduation Ceremony and inauguration of the Old Students Association of the UNIZIK High School held at the University Auditorium on Wednesday, 13th December 2023.

Mrs Atinuke disclosed that 112 students graduated from UHS for the just concluded academic session with 47 who made UNIZIK their first choice all gaining admission for various courses in the institution while about 150 students are moving from Junior class of JS3 to Senior Class of SS1. The School's Head also confirmed that out of the remaining 65 students, some have also gained admission owing to provisions made by the institution's management for biological children. She further revealed that the University gives special concession for the UHS which has been in existence for a long time since the existence of the school.

"I am delighted that under my watch, 112 students graduated from the UNIZIK High School for this academic year with 47 of them who made the University their first choice all successfully gaining admission for the upcoming University's academic session. This is not just about the concession that we enjoy as a school but for the fact that the students merited their admission owing to their performance in O' Level Exams and Jamb. 

"We also have more from the remaining 65 who also got admitted based on Biological Children provision made available by the management of the institution, meanwhile, it may also interest you to know that about 150 students are moving from the junior class over to the senior class," Atinuke said.

The School's Head disclosed that the most remarkable moment for her in the 2023 academic year was seeing her students engaged in an interactive session via zoom with students of Glamonth High School, British-Columbia, Canada were UHS students performed exceptionally well making their contemporaries shy and intimidating them academically.

"The most remarkable moment for me was watching my students engage in an interactive session via zoom with students from the Glamonth High School, British-Columbia, Canada. Our students performed exceptionally well and made their counterparts look shy. I was dazed as I never imagined that a black skinned man could make a white skinned man to be shy," Atinuke attested.

She admonished the graduating students not to forget the knowledge and value imparted in them as they are now going into the world where there is liberty and no one to monitor them. She encouraged them to study hard while in the University and be prayerful while engaging in acts that will stand them out as responsible members of the society.
