Omagba Edge Obosi In Five-Goal Thriller As Bishop Owen Nwokolo U-21 Tournament Hots Up
Omagba Archdeaconry outscored their Obosi counterparts 3-2 as the maiden edition of the Bishop Owen Nwokolo U-21 Football Tournament continued on Monday at the Basilica, Central School field, Onitsha.
The thrilling contest, amidst water-logged pitch, kept spectators on their toes with the two teams trying to outwit the other.
The fixture produced excellent moments with some players from the Bishop Owen Nwokolo Football Academy, BONFA, players adding sparks and electrifying moments to the game and to the delight of the spectators.
Prior to the clash, Onitsha Central held Onitsha Archdeaconry to a 1-1 draw at the All Saints Cathedral pitch.
Divine Obiucheagwu opened scoring for Onitsha Archdeaconry before Eze Chibueze converted a penalty to draw Onitsha Central Archdeaconry level.
Chairman of the Tournament Local Organising Committee, LOC, Sir Victor Nwangwu, said the tournament is still at the group stage.
The tournament is aimed at building the physical alongside the spiritual aspects of the youth while 40 players will be selected and groomed for a talent hunt trip to Europe.
