Awka Angels have become the first team to reach the semi final stage of the 2025 Edition of the Annual Judith Chime Championship holding here at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Oluebube Keke's first half strike proved decisive as the Angels prevailed over Brave Hearts of Benin in the thrilling quarter finals clash at The Cathedral, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, on Thursday morning.

Alex Nzekwe, Head Coach of Awka Angels, was full of praises for his girls win, admitting that it was a tough battle.

"Thank God we won and have moved to the semi finals. It was a difficult game though my players didn't stick completely to our game plan", Coach Nzekwe told Exclusivenews.com.ng, beaming with joyful smiles.

"All the 18 teams that came here are all tough, so we've to be happy and grateful to God that we're now in the semi finals.

"Brave Hearts gave us a difficult game. So, that's a clear message that the semi final will be tougher. It's said in science that 'The higher you go, the more difficult it becomes'.

"That's exactly how we look forward to our next game. We'll only need to work hard  and ensure that we convert all the chances that may come our way in the game".

The Awka Angels tactician commended Juth Chime, the ex-Super Falcons goalkeeper for organising the tournament for the girls.

"We can't thank her enough for this opportunity. This type of platform has been difficult to get and she deserves every grace of God for this special recognition and contribution to the girls and development of women football".
