Nigerian rap icon and YBNL boss, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has opened up about his personal relationship with fellow Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, describing them as his friends, but “just too troublesome.”

 

Speaking during a recent interview on Adesope Live, the multi-award-winning artist provided rare insight into the dynamics between some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars.

 

“Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy are all my friends. They are just too troublesome,” Olamide said with a smile. “They are cool dudes; it’s just that sometimes many can’t align on so many things — and that’s fine.”

 

Despite longstanding perceptions of rivalry among the quartet, Olamide’s comments suggest there is mutual respect — even if personal or creative differences exist behind the scenes.

 

Olamide also weighed in on the often-debated “Afrobeats Big 3” conversation, a ranking that usually features Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as the top-tier artists in the genre. Despite not being regularly included in that trio, Olamide said he remains unfazed.

 

“I’m not bothered about not being in any Big 3 list,” he said. “My focus has always been on making good music and growing the culture.”

 

Known for his street-influenced sound and consistency over more than a decade, Olamide has built a legacy not only as an artist but also as a mentor to some of Nigeria’s most successful new-generation acts like Fireboy DML, Asake, and others under his YBNL label.
