Okpotemba FC Set for Debut in Imo State Club Owners League
Newly established Okpotemba Football Club of Isiweke is set to make its first-ever appearance in the 2025 Imo State Club Owners League.
Speaking on the club’s debut, proprietor Cheta Ojukwu expressed optimism, stating that the experience gained from the competition will be invaluable for the team’s growth. “We are coming to learn from the more established teams, and we will take it from there,” he said. The club, popularly known as “Etiti Blue,” is eager to make an impression in its maiden tournament.
The Imo State Football Club Owners Association recently inaugurated a seven-member committee to oversee grassroots football development and organize the inaugural edition of the Imo State Super League. The committee is chaired by Mr. Patrick Osuji, CEO of Campos FC, with key officials including:
• Mr. Kachi Atufule (Malik-Pro FC) – Patron
• Mr. Michael Ahamefula (Kun Khalifat FC) – Vice Chairman
• Bro. Kingsley Azodo (Akokwa United FC) – Secretary
• Sir P.M.C. Okeke (Ave International FC) – Executive Member
• Mr. Doneric Chima Ekeh (Black Salt FC) – Executive Member
• Ms. Jennifer Anusiem (Imo Angels Sports Academy) – Executive Member
The formation of this committee marks a significant step in promoting grassroots football in Imo State, providing young talents with a platform to compete and develop. The committee is expected to unveil the league’s structure, format, and schedule in the coming weeks, signaling a new era for local football in the state.
