The renowned FlorenceJoshua (FJ) Football Academy in Akure, Ondo State, has proudly announced the appointment of Coach Ezindu Okay-Lawrence, affectionately known as “Officer-Coach” in Nigerian football circles. Known for his grassroots expertise, Coach Okay-Lawrence is a respected figure and executive member of the National Football Coaches Association (NFCA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). His arrival in Akure marks a promising new chapter for FJ Football Academy, a prominent institution in talent discovery and development in Ondo State.

The coach was officially introduced at a lively signing and award ceremony held at Legacy Lounge in Akure, with academy management, players, fans, and dignitaries in attendance. Chief Sir Elvis Ogbebor, the academy’s President, expressed deep gratitude to the new coach, emphasizing the academy’s commitment to a supportive and ambitious environment that encourages growth. FJ Academy, known for producing players who now play across Europe, is excited about the new potential for growth and success under Coach Okay-Lawrence’s guidance.

In his speech, Coach Okay-Lawrence shared his enthusiasm for joining the academy, emphasizing his dedication to grassroots development. “I am thrilled to be part of this academy, which has gained a strong reputation for nurturing young talent. I believe in building strong foundations, and I’m looking forward to mentoring these talented players at the beginning of their careers,” he said. He thanked the FJ management for their confidence and looked forward to helping the team reach new heights.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Raphael Gbadamosi, the team’s Manager, expressed excitement about the new direction, expressing hopes that Coach Okay-Lawrence’s experience would propel FJ Academy to greater success.

Adding to the support, Prof. Abiodun Henry, President of H&B Global Sports, celebrated the news: “This is a wonderful development. Coach Lawrence brings integrity, experience, and a straightforward approach that will undoubtedly benefit the academy. I am happy for him and for FJ Academy.”

The ceremony also recognized the academy’s top players, with September’s Player of the Month, Soji Adu, and October’s standout, Joseph Ushie Akpojie, receiving awards and gifts.

Held on November 12, 2024, the event at Legacy Lounge was a milestone for FJ Academy as it embarks on this new era with Coach Okay-Lawrence. We wish both the academy and its new head coach every success.
