Bendel Insurance Football Club continued their fight for safety in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Heartland FC on Sunday evening at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Heartland’s Promise Anyanwu gave the hosts an early lead in the 6th minute with a well-taken header. However, substitute Austin Ogunye salvaged a crucial point for the Benin Arsenals with an 82nd-minute equalizer, ensuring Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten run to three games.

The draw adds to a growing sense of stability for Insurance, who recently held Akwa United to a 1-1 draw in Uyo thanks to Stanley Okorom’s 30th-minute goal and defeated Plateau United 2-1 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Matchday 15.

Upcoming Fixture
Bendel Insurance will host Lobi Stars next at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, on Saturday, December 21, as they look to further secure their position on the NPFL table.

Coach’s Comments
Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba expressed satisfaction with the away point while emphasizing the need to remain focused on the upcoming challenge:
“The away point was important. Now, we shift our focus to Lobi Stars. Like I always say, our team is a work in progress, and we’ll keep working hard until we are fully stabilized. With renewed determination and teamwork, I believe we will get it right soon.”

The Benin Arsenals remain optimistic as they build momentum in their campaign to climb out of danger in the NPFL standings.
