Shooting Stars head coach Gbenga Ogunbote praised his players’ determination following their 2-1 victory at home against Akwa United. 

The Oluyole Warriors achieved back-to-back home wins in Matchday 9 of the NPFL, having previously defeated Katsina United 1-0 at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

In a media interview, Ogunbote highlighted the importance of synergy among his players for continued improvement.

“It’s more than just having a team. When players are committed, they give their all, leading to positive results. They need to adopt the mindset of ‘we must win, no matter the circumstances.’

“The determination of each player is crucial for achieving victory. Sometimes, anxiety can cause players to miss opportunities, as they may struggle to control their emotions.

“Nonetheless, it’s encouraging to see our synergy developing gradually. Once we achieve that, we’ll create more goal-scoring chances.

“When our synergy reaches its peak, we’ll find that even when we’re not fully focused, opportunities will still arise and be converted.”
