Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has raised concerns over an alleged gathering of fake signatures in an attempt to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

 

Taking to her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ezekwesili reacted to a video shared by Arise News journalist Rufai Oseni, which showed individuals allegedly collecting signatures for the recall process.

 

Expressing her disapproval, she questioned the authenticity of the exercise and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to act responsibly.

 

“Just look at how they are gathering FAKE SIGNATURES that were submitted to INEC to pretend that her constituents of Kogi Central, who remain solidly behind her, want her recalled.

 

Well, as citizens who refuse to hand over democracy to criminals masquerading as our ‘leaders’, we are ready and waiting for Professor Mahmood Yakubu and his colleagues,” Ezekwesili wrote.

 

The recall attempt has sparked controversy, with many observers waiting to see how INEC will respond to the allegations.
