Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has voiced significant concerns about the rising insecurity in Nigeria, stressing the urgent need for collective action to combat the issue. During his visit to Bauchi, he highlighted the effectiveness of community policing in identifying and addressing security threats within neighborhoods.

Obasanjo explained that community policing fosters relationships among residents, making it easier to recognize potential security risks. He contrasted the current insecurity with his own time in office, when prioritizing the safety of lives and property was paramount.

Additionally, Obasanjo shared a personal story about discovering his 25% hearing loss during a medical check-up abroad. This revelation inspired him to establish the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, which has provided hearing aids and treatment to thousands of Nigerians.

Moreover, he announced plans to distribute hearing aids to 10,000 underprivileged individuals in the Northeast, beginning with 2,000 in Bauchi State.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed also addressed the gathering, outlining his administration’s focus on road construction and rehabilitation, with 116 projects spanning a total of 1,482.25 km across the state.
